A character actor who hit his career peak in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Ron Silver was probably already past his prime when he became better known as a politicized actor on the Right following the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. However that may have impacted his career, he should be best remembered for the run of films that put him close to stand-alone stardom, including a leading man performance in Enemies: A Love Story. Given my genre tastes, it's probably no surprise that I like best after Enemies his psycho villain role in Kathryn Bigelow's Blue Steel. Short of his 63rd birthday, Silver died too young, as just about everyone does.

ReplyDeleteGod bless Ron Silver, he was a 'Liberal' who came to his senses about Jihadis and brutal Dictators. He knew they would destroy America, and Hollywood if they could. He realized that if America goes down the tubes, then the whole planet is doomed.
You were great Ron! Time Cop, Arrival, Wiseguy, and The West Wing among many were particularly good. Thank you for everything, especially your courage, RIP.

hates ALL Liberals
who admit their errors
and move Right on defense

absurd thought -
God of the Universe hates
the principles of FREEDOM
fascism comes from the Right
that is a lie of the Left

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
YOU'RE RIGHT WING
because you hate dictators
and don't blame America

All real freedom starts with freedom of speech. Without freedom of speech there can be no real freedom.
