Now Playing: FEB. 4, 1962

Here's a Sunday opening in Eugene OR, which gets its first look fifty years ago at what we'd call a tentpole film today -- the launch of a series of Miss Marple films based on Agatha Christie's novels.

The second feature is an international production pairing the advertised Steiger with Nadja Tiller, a "German Marilyn Monroe." The adaptation of a James Hadley Chase novel deals with an armored-car caper and a U.S. Army payroll. Steiger would seem to be doing the same sort of role he had recently essayed in Henry Hathaway's Seven Thieves. Perhaps regrettably, there's no video trace of it online. It looks the more interesting of the two films.
