David Carradine (1936-2009)
Terrible news out of Thailand: Carradine was reportedly filming some movie in Bangkok when he hung himself in a hotel room. He'll be remembered for many obvious things, and many other things he did will be regretted, but I think of him as one of a dying generation of stars from the grindhouse era of the 1970s and 1980s and as much a definitive figure of his time as the beloved "horror men" like Karloff, Lugosi, Price and Cushing were for theirs. I'm posting this from an office computer just to acknowledge the event and pay my respects, but I plan to organize some more thoughts on Carradine later.
